I was just talking to my boss about this earlier in the week. I got an iPad on Wednesday and loaded it up with a ton of apps. By Thursday night I had deleted 95% of them. Any that just repackaged annews site or blog was removed. Unless there is extra utiltiy or content developed for apps on the iPad, I think people are going to figure out the browser is the best way to access the web. They just have to realize it’s the same web as on their desktops or laptops, not the crippled version on a mobile phone.
